Chapter 27 – Artifact (1)
3rd POV
‘Why is she still here?’ The girl thought as she continued to bite her fingernail. She was starting to get anxious and agitated by Yvonne’s presence.
‘Tsk, did that b*tch even do what I told her to?’ She was waiting for Yvonne to be called to the office and finally get out of her way.
‘Ugh, you’re supposed to be a mascot wandering around! Why are you still here stealing my spotlight!’ The girl continued to bite her fingernail and glare at Yvonne from a distance.
Her nail began to bleed from her continuous biting. No one seems to notice her subtle glare every now and then towards Yvonne.
‘I purposely suggested a mascot duty just for you, who would’ve thought that slut Julia would change it!’ The girl kept cursing in her thoughts and killing both Julia and Yvonne inside her head.
“You should get that treated.” When Yvonne came back and noticed her bleeding thumb, she couldn’t help herself from telling her to get it treated.
Since it was busy outside with a lot of dirt and dust, she couldn’t help herself but wonder how the wound can get infected.
“Oh! I didn’t notice that…I’ll get it treated, thank you for worrying Yvonne!” The two-faced girl smiled as if she didn’t just curse her a second ago.
‘I swear to god, if she doesn’t get out of my face I’ll get her expelled in no time.’ The girl thought to herself as the people’s attention wasn’t on her anymore but the attention was now towards the tall and poised lady beside her.
‘Why did I have to be born with these stubby legs?’ The girl hated her mother and father for being short. She thought that is she were to be taller than Yvonne, she could just easily look down on her…literally.
‘Ugh, what’s wrong with the school staff? She should be suspended by now or expelled by now!’ The girl kept her cool and did her responsibilities while still wondering what had happened to her plan.
‘If she doesn’t stay away from me, then I’d just have to use her.’ The girl thought. She could easily use Yvonne as a comparison to her “noble” self.
‘After all, I’m the most beautiful and respectful person here, unlike these brats around me.’ She thought to herself once again.
What better way to get rid of Yvonne other than shaming her and putting her in her right place?

*Goosebumps*
‘I’m a hundred percent sure that someone was just glaring at you.’ Nova said to Yvonne whilst looking around. Nova felt a dark gaze directed towards his host, it was no normal gaze that you would encounter when someone’s angry.
It’s a kind of gaze that had malice and dark intentions.
‘Yvonne’s hated by a couple of students because of her attitude, it’s expected that someone would want her head lopped off.’ Demi said as in an exaggerated manner.
She did think of who would hate Yvonne to the extent of chopping her and couldn’t think of anyone but her family.
‘But…but I feel really unsettled.’ Nova looked around once more and cursed his lacking senses when he couldn’t see anything.
‘Let’s just do our jobs before Julia puts me ba-‘
“I forgot to put you on mascot role, here.” As if the universe had jinxed her, Julia remembered that Demi was supposed to be on mascot duty. It was already the third day and she completely forgot to rotate Demi on mascot duty yesterday.
*SIGH*
Demi put down the list she was holding and handed it over to Natalie. She grabbed the suit and went for the bathroom to get changed.
It took Demi half an hour to change into the slightly hot mascot, because well. She’s unwilling, and the bathroom door was unhinged so she had to force it close with a mop and a bucket.
The day went on normally, ridiculously normal considering what had just happened two days ago. Demi expected to be called by the school staff members for a talk or receive and expulsion in worst case scenario, but none of that happened.
It’s as if the situation wasn’t there to begin with. So Demi was somewhat skeptical and grateful at the same time, she didn’t have to deal with those grumpy old people.
Demi planned on proving them wrong but it seemed that she wouldn’t have to go through that debate all along.
‘I-I can smell an artifact.’ Nova blurted out. It was out of nowhere. It’s not impossible to encounter an artifact here since thousands of people are gathered, but finding artifacts is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
Artifacts are the rarest, and they’ve only encountered it once.
‘And it’s that god forsaken fountain pen that we couldn’t even use.’ Demi remembered trying to use it once and Nova telling her that it’s basically a normal pen right now.
‘Well I’m sorry alright? I used that pen to write this reality, it must’ve run out of ink?’ Nova was unsure why sa well. He knows that losing his abilities might have a large role on the artifacts as well.
‘But it’s nearly impossible for the pen to lose all its ink.’ Nova said while sighing. He knows nothing just like Demi, and he used that inked pen for millions of years already!
‘Sometimes I just wonder if you’re really a god.’ Demi looked at Nova and shook her head.
‘I’m not a god! That’s just what you humans call me.’ Nova said. Demi just continued calling him a “god” since he basically made this reality she was living in as Yvonne.
‘Would you rather I die from trying to pronounce the name of your “species?’ Demi doesn’t have an inkling on how his language system works. Human vocal chords are incapable of even speaking a single syllable of Nova’s language.
‘Should we look for it?’ Demi asked whilst walking out of the bathroom.
‘Heck yeah! You know how much artifacts hold my abilities, of course we’ll look for it.’ Demi remembered that artifacts were created by Nova, it was the things that contained his abilities other than the leads.
Artifacts can be one of the most expensive diamonds in the world, or be a rusting bicycle sitting in an abandoned house for 10 years.
Demi and Nova began searching while Demi still does her work of giving out flyers while in a red panda suit.
‘We’re getting closer!’ Nova sensed that the artifact is near, but when he saw the source of the artifact’s glow and who held it…He was stuck in place like a stone.
‘Wait…why does she have that?’
